Landscape

There are 3 main different forest types. Mixed Decidous forest, Dipterocarp with Oak forest and hill evergreen forest. There is a rare plant called Chompoo Phuka Tree in the park. This tree flowers in the month of February and fruits in the month of May. The flower, white rose in color, bloom in long upright racemes.

Since the landscape was created under the ocean there are abundance of limestones. Consequently there are limestone caves, waterfalls, and fossils. Rainy season is from May to October, with the peak rainfall in August and September. The cold season (November – February) is the popular season for the visitors.

Suggested Activities

The park has a well-developed network of hiking trails ranging from a short 2-hour trek to a three-day trek that climbs to the top of Doi Phu Ka National Park (at least 2,000 meters high). here you have a variety of trekking opportunities.

About 8 km from the park administration, there is a viewing platform, which offers an ingenious view over the ancient palm forests.

Early risers should set out and hike as high as possible in the morning, then get a breathtaking view of the fog, transforming the forests in the valley into a gray, almost mystical sea.

The Puhfah is the largest waterfall in the park and offers a great panorama for amateur photographers. Slightly smaller but still impressive are the Fah Shee Nok, the Mae Charim, the Ton Tong Waterfall and the Tad Luang Waterfall in Pua. But in the park are still hidden countless sources that plunge into the depths and you have on a tour through the park all to yourself. (Note: you can swim in some of the pools of the waterfalls, but there are plenty of leeches!).

The park is also known for its numerous limestone caves: the Tharn Nam Lod is a so-called passage cave, which is flowed through by a stream. Incidentally, the Thai also call this natural phenomenon Nam Ok Roo.
