We differentiate ourselves from other elephant camps by providing a place of rest and relaxation for our elephants, where they are not worked or used for labor or entertainment. Instead, they are free to live in a nearly natural environment where they are cared for and treated with kindness.
As visitors, you will have the opportunity to interact with our elephant family and spend the day feeding, walking, playing, and bathing them. This is an opportunity for both you and the elephants to bond and create a friendly, family-like atmosphere. Our aim is to provide a kind and gentle lifestyle for our elephants, and for visitors to learn about and appreciate these majestic animals.
At Maerim Elephant Home, visitors have the unique opportunity to change into traditional Karen Mahout clothing, worn by the elephant handlers. This not only adds to the cultural experience but also shows respect for the elephants and the traditional culture of the Karen people. Throughout the day, visitors will learn about the behavior, care, and lifestyle of Thai elephants from our experienced handlers. They will also be taught basic words in the elephant’s language, allowing them to communicate and understand the elephants better. Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in walking exercises with the elephants and learn about the herbs that are beneficial for their health and well-being.
One of the highlights of the visit is the opportunity to feed and take photos with the elephants. Visitors will have the chance to watch the elephants enjoy their favorite fruits and snacks and even feed them by hand, creating a memorable experience that they will cherish for a long time.
