Phra Buddha Sihing
This bronze statue of Pang Man Wichai Chiangsaen Singh style was brought all the way from Nopburi Sri Nakhonping Chiangmai. It’s a respectable Buddh a statue of Pai County. According to the history, it was probably built in 17th-18th Buddhist century.
The statue is inside the ubosot of the temple. Feel free to go in and pay respect to the statue, even if it’s not the worshipping ceremony.
By the way, the ceremony is held on April 13 annually.
Wat Don Srichai Itself
The temple and a moat had been built together in 1478 before Phra Buddha Sihing was brought. The temple was named after the village Ban Don and the name of the town’s ruler.
In 1581, King Naresuan also brought his army to Pai to give them a training and lead them to pay respect to Phra Buddha Sihing. During his visit, he stayed at Khum Chau Luang Muang Pai Prasat Ho Kham Chaofah, the location of Wiang Nua District Hospital in the present.
The temple is peaceful. With the area of 17,600 square metres, you can wall around and take photos of all architectures. Don’t forget the ubosot and its Naga-shaped handrails.
