Kaeng Luang Dinosaur Forest Park ‘See authentic dinosaurs’ fossils and go rafting in Yom River!’
For this coming vacation, you probably want to take your kids to see dinosaurs’ fossils at Kaeng Luang Dinosaur Forest Park.
Kaeng Luang Dinosaur Forest Park is a forest area and also a museum. There, you will see real dinosaurs’ fossils, including the ‘Sauropoda’, a large vegetarian dinosaur. These fossils of Sauropoda were discovered there for the first time of northern Thailand. And, in case you don’t know yet, Sauropoda was more than 15 metres long, more than 100 tons, and more than 100 feet high.
Not just dinosaurs’ fossils. There are also dinosaur statues and artificial dinosaurs’ skeletons on display. Most of the fossils are kept inside glass cases. There are texts and pictures to give you details about all exhibitions. Get your kids to learn about these.
After admiring everything in the museum, don’t forget to take them to other areas of the forest parks too. The forest park is within Mae Yom Preserved Forest. Take your kids for a sightseeing or a leisure walk. If they’re strong enough, you may ask them to go hiking with you or walk through all these woodlands to see high mountains, which are about 300-557 metres high, some wild animals of small sizes and middle sizes.
Best of all, you won’t want to miss rafting in Yom River. Yes. Your kids are gonna love this. Take them on a raft and go rafting along the river for the most perfect sightseeing ever.
Or you may just swim in the river with them, if you want to. You’re family are going to have a nice and memorable vacation for sure. Everything there is relaxing.
How to get there
Kaeng Luang Dinosaur Forest Park is located in Chiang Muan County, Phayao Province.
Look for the way to Chun County and Pong County. Head for the junction that leads you to Chiang Muan. When you find it, turn right. Keep going for a little bit and turn left to Phrae Province. Continue straight for about 3 kilometres. You will be able to enter the forest park soon.
